Man found dead in his cell at Cloverhill Prison
GardaÃ and the Inspector of Prisons are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of an inmate at Cloverhill Prison this morning.
The 39-year-old man was found unresponsive in his cell at around 6am this morning.
Emergency services and a doctor were called to the remand prison but the man was pronounced dead an hour later.
The man, who was from Finglas was arrested on Royal Canal Way in Dublin last Wednesday after gardaÃ searched a car he was in with a woman and found a loaded gun, ammunition, a mask and a can of petrol.
Detectives believe the incident is connected to the Hutch and Kinahan feud
He was charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition and appeared in court last Saturday where he was remanded in custody.
He had been due to appear before Cloverhill District Court today.
The Prison Service has confirmed an inmate died in custody th is morning.
