Thugs cause €800 worth of damage to defibrillator in Cork

Mindless thugs caused €800 worth of damage to a defibrillator in Mallow, Co Cork last Saturday night.

The vandals smashed the outer casing of the defibrillator and it is beyond repair.

The defibrillator was donated to the local community by Mallow Credit Union for use in emergencies.

Mallow Search and Rescue shared a photo of the damage to their Facebook account after the incident, appealing for help to trace the perpetrators.

They wrote: "Donated by Mallow Credit union to Mallow Search and Rescue for use by the general public and mindlessly vandalised by somebody tonight! Sometime between 9.30pm and 10pm.

"If anyone has any information please contact either ourselves on 0876353850 or Mallow Gardai".

Defib rillator damage

John Woulfe of Mallow Search and Rescue revealed the extent of the damage during an interview on C103's Cork Today.

"It’s not the first time it’s been vandalised, but it’s pretty permanent this time. We can’t fix it, we’ll have to get a new casing for it,” he said.
